Grand Worble, the conductor, raises both arms for the Big Wobble: his baton draws a music sheet full of notes across the sky, the Worbles cheer and jump, one Grumble looks unimpressed and another rattles

Meet the Worbles

Thirty seconds, no talking, one very tired rock.

H, U and M hum one chord in sync while Grand Worble conducts with both arms up, his baton drawing a music sheet across the sky. At the freshly paved edge of the meadow, a Grumble rattles beside a QUIET ZONE, PAVING IN PROGRESS sign. Teaser coming soon
The cast

Who lives in the meadow

Three Worbles, the A, R and Qu tiles, wide-eyed and delighted.

The Worbles

Letters made of jelly. Each one hums its own note, and when they line up into a real word the notes match and the whole word wobbles right off the board. Line up nonsense and they just sort of jiggle at you.

There is no volume knob.

Grand Worble, the conductor: a big purple jelly W in a black tailcoat and white bow tie, round gold spectacles and white maestro tufts, baton raised.

Grand Worble

Conducts. Nobody asked him to. When the music sheet fills up, he throws both arms in the air and everybody jumps.

It's a baton, not a wand. He will tell you.

The Wildcard, a pearly, iridescent jelly tile with a gold star where its letter would be.

The Wildcard

A star with no letter, so it can hum whatever note you're missing. Drop it in and it picks the letter that makes your best word.

Never wrong. Insufferable about it.

Two Grumbles, brown rocks with heavy brows: one plants a QUIET ZONE, PAVING IN PROGRESS sign, the other rattles with its eyes squeezed shut.

The Grumbles

Rocks can't wobble, so all that humming rattles them to the core. They've decided to pave the whole meadow so nobody has room to make a sound.

They have been trying to nap since the Bronze Age.

The Grumble Foreman in an orange hard hat, holding up his clipboard: NOISE COMPLAINT. PAVE MEADOW. QUIET BY FRIDAY, underlined twice.

The Grumble Foreman

The grumpiest Grumble. Nobody made him foreman. He bought the hard hat himself, filed a noise complaint with nobody in particular, and now he's coming for the meadow.

"Quiet by Friday." He underlined it twice.

How to play

Learn it in a minute

  1. A T piece drops into an empty space next to C and A on the board.

    Drop letters

    Drag pieces onto the board.

  2. C, A and T hum one chord with their eyes closed in sync: the word CAT is in tune and wobbles.

    Make a word

Three letters or more, across or down. Real words hum in tune and wobble away.

  3. WOW hums beside a Grumble standing on fresh paving, and the chord shakes it apart into pebbles and a flower.

    Rattle the rocks

Grumbles creep in from the edges. Make a word right next to one and it cracks like a wine glass at the opera. Longer words shake harder.

Grand Worble conducts with both arms up beside a full music sheet of coloured notes.

Every Worble you clear becomes a note on the music sheet. Fill it up and Grand Worble counts everyone in for the Big Wobble, one giant group jump that knocks a 3×3 hole in whatever's in the way.
